Welcome to the NCRI Confederation of Cancer Biobanks
The NCRI’s Confederation of Cancer Biobanks (CCB) is a consortium of biobanks and biosample collections based in the UK, established to encourage greater coordination and promote harmonisation between biobanks – enabling them to share best practice and raise awareness of their collections with researchers. There are now over 30 member biobanks and the CCB assists biobank development by providing advice and mutual support.
The CCB collaborates with the NCRI CM-Path initiative to improve access to histopathology samples, BBMRI-ERIC to promote quality standards and with the UKCRC Tissue Directory and Coordination Centre to help them to develop a web-based sample portal as a national resource.
Membership of the CCB is open to all organisations involved in the management of biobanks that are willing and able to, or aspire to, work to the commonly agreed principles and practices.
As part of our role to promote and disseminate consensus on best practices for biobanks, the CCB is looking at benchmarking and accrediting biobanks. Two standards have been published.
The CCB organises events to inform and encourage debate on topical issues in biobanking. Find out about CCB member-hosted events and other events aimed at the biobanking community.
