Join the CCB
Who can join?
Membership of the CCB is open to all organisations involved in the management of biobanks that are willing and able to, or aspire to, work to the commonly agreed principles and practices endorsed by the members of the Confederation.
Types of membership
The CCB has two categories of biobank membership, full member and provisional members, to reflect the different stages of development of a biobank.
The criteria for full members are defined as below:
- Currently providing samples for cancer research to any researchers with bona fide projects (at least in the UK).
- Compliant with CCB Guiding Principles.
- Sample collection is discoverable by researchers (listed in the NCRI Cancer Biosample Directory as a minimum).
Provisional members are defined as biobanks who are working towards full membership status but do not yet fulfill all criteria (this would be reviewed after two years).
Applications for full and prospective members should be made through the CCB on-line application facility. As part of the on-line application process we also ask you to agree to the contents of the Memorandum of Understanding which the Confederation has adopted and share details of your Access Policy. In addition we ask that you register with the NCRI Cancer Biosample Directory and complete an on-line form to include details of your sample collection in the directory.
